Heimbach
The ensemble of old and new churches in Heimbach offers much to discover. The small parish church of St. Clemens became too small when the pilgrimage image from the dissolved Mariawald monastery was transferred to Heimbach in 1804. The statue of the "Sorrowful Mother", for centuries the destination of tens of thousands of pilgrims every year, was initially placed in the late Baroque Clemens Church. The new Salvator Church was consecrated in 1981 and now houses the image. We offer an open tour of both churches. Visitors have the opportunity to discover the carvings of the precious Antwerp carved altar and the stained glass windows by Georg Meistermann up close.
The tour lasts a maximum of one hour. Admission is free, but donations for the preservation of the churches are welcome.
Registration is not required. Info: Alice Toporowsky, pastoral advisor
